You can narrow or sort your results by shape, price, carat, color, cut, clarity, and even some advanced criteria such as fluorescence, polish, and price per carat. Details about individual diamonds are provided in a sidebar when you hold the cursor over them, which is another helpful little feature not provided by some of the other online diamond stores.

Inspection

Blue Nile provides a set of images for each diamond, including actual top-down and side photos as well as measurement and comparison graphs and the full range of information provided by the diamond’s certificate. In terms of overall inspection options, Blue Nile is good, if not quite as good as James Allen.

Blue Nile’s customer service and support is top notch, with 24/7 telephone service among the highlights, in addition to live chat and email support options. They also offer a 30-day return policy and one year of free resizing service.

Shipping

Blue Nile provides free shipping with FedEx for all US orders. The exact FedEx service used depends on the value of the order, with orders of $500 or more being shipped with Priority Overnight service. International orders get free FedEx International Priority service, so overall, Blue Nile’s shipping policies are relatively generous.
